One of the Microsoft experts recommended to a person who had mutliple failed atempts in getting the update passed
the 86% freeze point to shut down the computer, and then disconnect the computer entirely from the internet before restarting the computer,
as required to complete the update process.
So I shut down he computer and then disconnected my laptop from
the network and also disabled the wireless connection. When I restarted my laptop, it began the update process
all over again and went right passed the 86% without a hitch to completely install at 100%.
I then checked for system updates which showed my laptop was up to date with nothing to download.
